I was delighted to join Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke at Shannon Airport today to welcome Ryanair’s major €50 million investment announcement.

The expansion of its aircraft maintenance and engineering operation will create over 400 new high-skilled jobs in Clare, with plans for a new four-bay maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) hangar. This is a major vote of confidence in Shannon Airport, the Mid-West and the highly skilled workforce in Clare.

Subject to planning approval, the new facility is expected to be operational by late 2028.

I was also pleased to host the Minister on a visit to Zimmer Biomet, the global medical technology leader with a base in Shannon, where we saw first-hand the company’s innovative work and discussed its exciting plans for future growth and development in the region.

A very positive day for jobs, investment and the future of Clare.
