Community Sports Facilities Fund

As we await the opening of the next round of the Community Sports Facilities Fund (formerly the Sports Capital and Equipment Fund), expected in early June, I want to encourage all clubs in Clare to start preparing now so they are ready to submit strong applications as soon as the scheme opens.

The Department has updated information on the Sports Capital Programme, which can be found here: https://www.gov.ie/en/department-of-culture-communications-and-sport/collections/sports-capital-programme-allocations/

This is a very important funding stream for clubs, and preparation now will make a real difference.

Key steps for clubs:

1. Update OSCAR details
Make sure your club information and contacts are up to date on the OSCAR system.

2. Register if needed
If your club has not applied before, you must register on OSCAR before you can apply.

3. Gather documents early
You will likely need:

Proof of ownership or long-term lease
Cost estimates or quotes
Letters of support from your National Governing Body
Details of your club contribution

4. Check planning requirements
Planning permission is not always required at application stage, but having it in place where needed will strengthen your application.

5. Plan your project now
Be clear on what you want to apply for, the costs involved, and that it fits the scheme such as facilities, equipment or accessibility works.

6. Set up a small committee
A small group to handle the application can make the process much easier and more organised.

Applications are scored, so full and accurate applications give clubs the best chance of success.

If any club needs advice or support, please contact my office. My team and I are happy to help.

Best of luck to all clubs preparing for this round.
