A major new piece of infrastructure for the Midwest was officially opened today with the unveiling of the Killaloe–Ballina Bridge. The long-awaited project provides a second crossing point over the River Shannon between Clare and Tipperary, easing congestion in both towns and improving connectivity across the region.

The bridge, which has been in development for years, is expected to transform local traffic flow, reduce bottlenecks in Killaloe and Ballina, and enhance safety for residents and visitors. Local representatives and community members gathered this morning to mark the opening, hailing it as a historic day for the twin towns and the wider Shannon region.
